1992
JarKey was invented by Danish engineer Helge Brix-Hansen. His octogenarian mother Karen Elisabeth was suffering from arthritis and could not open a preserving jar on her own. Not even with the help of one of the many jar openers that existed on the world market. Helge solved the problem for her, when he invented JarKey, the world's best jar opener.
JarKey was shown on national television for the first time during the prime time evening news on Denmarks No. 1 TV station. This laid the foundation for a very successful launch of the product in Denmark.
JarKey was sold to Sweden and Norway.
1993
JarKey was sold to several other European countries including Holland, Germany.
JarKey received the prestigious Formland Award in Denmark.
JarKey was sold to leading US retailers such as Bloomingdale's and Bed, Bath & Beyond, as well as to Canada.
JarKey was shown in nationwide TV campaigns in Denmark and Holland.
1994
JarKey was awarded the national Danish Design Index award.
1995 & 1996
JarKey was shown in nationwide TV campaign in Sweden.
1997
JarKey was shown in nationwide TV campaign in Norway.
JarKey was shown on Good Morning America and famous TV host Joan Lunden loved it!
JarKey was included in exhibit at The Chicago Athenaeum.
2000
JarKey was selected as one of the "Products of the Century" by the International Housewares Association.
2002
New York mayor Rudy Giuliani's wife showed the JarKey on American TV.
2005
Former US President Bill Clinton was handed a JarKey as a special gift at an event in Copenhagen and he was very thankful.
2008
JarKey was one of the highlights at the exhibition “Universal Design – Designing Our Future” at International Design Center, Berlin. German Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen demonstrated the product at the opening of the exhibition.
